Walks in nature fill both my eyes and the part of me that seeks the essence of things.

The physicality of the natural world—fixed, layered and transformed through art—is one way I embody changes. My work is about journeys through those changes.

In my studio, I focus on color, pattern, texture and repeated use of iconic, recognizable shapes, such as a tree, a house, a leaf, or a bird. The repeated motifs contribute a sense of familiarity and stability. At the same time they are fluid, moving from one piece to another regardless of medium. The medium I choose for a specific piece contributes its own unique possibilities and limitations. Combining familiar elements with changing media establishes a shifting ground on which I experiment with reassembling the layers of my experience. The results are concrete visual metaphors for personal history and multi-faceted responses to the physical world.
